They believe in the written word. No matter how archaic or absurd They follow and no other “truths” can be heard As Paradise with be Their dieing reward. They are Fundamentalists. Only Their doctrines can possibly be right Their God has revealed them in a flash of light One mind’s illumination becomes a multitude’s fight And peaceful co-existence is perverted to exercise of might As they are Fundamentalists. The words from the past are prized Whether from Joshua, Buddha, Mohammed or Christ Blinding Them from today’s truths and lies. Why can’t They open Their eyes. Because they are Fundamentalists. They confuse dogmas with values And substitute rituals for truths, Resulting in evils not virtues. They are every day’s bad news! They are Fundamentalists. Relying on extracting passages for their justification, Repeated over and over for intensification, Resulting in mass indoctrination. Closed minds can’t receive an education. But They are Fundamentalists. Lack of understanding can lead to hate Violence and bloodshed are then the world’s fate As each counter action produces another initiate Why cant they stop before it’s too late. Because they are Fundamentalists. All the world’s religions share a common belief Peace and love are mankind’s relief After fighting the dark side which lies beneath Why not join all the best and stop the grief Because they are Fundamentalists. All of us share a common aim To find our true selves, our peace to attain Beneath the doctrines the faiths are the same Let’s get it together. Anything else is insane. But they are Fundamentalists.
